Keeping this in mind today with my students.
I’m going to keep this in mind as well. Very well-said.
I can’t seem to comment on your posts, but have been meaning to tell you that, if it helps, I have been where you are now and even had a student who spit at me. Right now, one of my middle schoolers has also taken it upon himself to begin the rigorous testing process that apparently determines whether the new tutor will cry/give in/give up/whatever he’s expecting, or not. It’s hard going from younger students to older students (especially with a cooperating teacher who does not seem to have much respect for the students, because respect is mutual) but once you show them you’re not about to break, things will get much easier and they may start looking to you as someone they can talk to and respect.
