Another Teaching Blog

A couple of updates on teacher comics, etc.

Hi all!

So my other half (better half? other persona) is where these teacher comics are coming from, and for anyone who ordered and is waiting on them thank you so much for your help and patience — my computer had gone down, and I needed said computer to print out new covers to put on the comics we had printed out previously, because ink from another printed project rubbed off and made them unpleasant to look at.

If you print something for your classes and it has a lot of color, do not set it next to something white even if you think it’s dry.  Friction will do things to it.

All of those comics will be mailing this week.  So far you all have given me just over thirty dollars for our program, which has been used on everything from seeds and potting soil to art pens, ribbon, and plaster-molds.  Every dollar is so valuable, I cannot thank you enough.

And here is the second, slightly awkward part.  Very awkward part.

The work I do with my kids, right now, is a part-time job.  It is also, freelance work aside because I am getting very little of it, my only job.

If you have an idea for a poster for your classroom, or original artwork for your classroom, for next year — or if you just want a piece of art for personal reasons, or a comic, or a header design, etc. — I’m passing the fact that I’m open for work over to the education side today.  There have been issues with a lost paycheck, and because my supervisor being sick means the club has to be closed and my being sick means I can’t make the drive up to work, my last paycheck was gutted thanks to a program-wide stomach virus issue.

So right now, with bills looming and my bank account more drained than usual because of certification costs, I’m letting you know that I would very much love to make art for your classroom for a minor fee.  And I’m always willing to make art for your classrooms and you all, I would just rather do so for free and feel awkward asking for money for it since we’re all friends-and-colleagues-and-what-have-you here.

Please don’t hesitate to message me here on tumblr, though it might be safer to use fanmail so nothing gets eaten.
