Another Teaching Blog

6 notes

My mother is insistent that my brother and I follow in the footsteps of Khan Academy and do something innovative on the internet that is the same as Khan Academy but with..other…subjects?

Somehow this has led to the demand that I record myself reading books so that anyone can listen to them in case no one is reading to them at home.  Which is not a terrible idea, but I think there are copyright issues with that.

Dear 60 Minutes: Please, either teach my parents about the internet in a more timely fashion, or emphasize that the thing you are showing is already being done and thus that copying it is not necessarily innovative.

But now I’m thinking about this so that I have an answer next time they ask me what I’ve come up with.  Even if it’s not a good one.
